Pastor Joel Osteen of Lakewood Church announced a Special Easter Sunday special featuring Kanye West, Mariah Carey, and Tyler Perry. Osteen stated in a public announcement "They will deliver messages of love and support.”
Lakewood along with almost every other church will celebrate Easter differently from what has been the norm for years. From dressing up in spring colors, resurrection songs, Easter speeches and Easter egg hunts this year church will be different.
Due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) churches all of the world has been impacted for the past few weeks and more to come. The rapid spread of COVID-19 in our country has caused churches to become completely virtually until further notice.
Lakewood is utilizing this years Easter service to motivate, inspire, and offer support worldwide. As the show goes on mega stars such as Kanye West, Tyler Perry, and Mariah Carey will join the services remotely. Sources say that Mariah Carey will perform one of her hit songs "Hero" in honor of medical professionals and other first responders. Tyler Perry will "deliver words of encouragement" to viewers, while Kanye West will beam in from Los Angeles and provide music for the service, along with his Sunday Service crew.
