Lyrics for Learning

This past Saturday, talented students from 2nd -12th grade who are inspired by their passion for music had the chance to showcase their abilities and originality in performing, dancing, singing or rapping. The Lyrics for Learning scholarship competition was geared to discover and support raw talent from a diverse pool of competitors to showcase their potential in a real way. Each contestant had to perform an original song about bullying in schools or suicide. Students from over 10 school districts competed for about $50,000 in scholarships, cash awards, and prizes as well as performance opportunities.

All of the participants performed original lyrics, experienced constructive criticism from a panel of judges, and contributed to several promotional videos against bullying. Each participant left with awards from the city and state representatives for their participation. The 1st place through 3rd place took home trophies in each age category. Congrats to all of the winners on a job well done.

The entire event was put together by You Are a Queen, a non-profit directorial facilitator, and Kings II Kings, non-profit. You Are a Queen Non-Profit conducts empowerment workshops and events that provide an open and safe environment for girls to have access to the tools they need when they need help. Kings II Kings provides the resources that are necessary to strengthen, guide, and elevate young men to a pathway of becoming driven, educated and successful young Kings.
